WTIF – Waterborne Transport Innovation is a research, development and application foundation, providing engineering solutions in waterborne transport and related operations.
WTIF was set up in 2011 by a group of researchers with vigor for challenges, advancements in science, technology and operations.
Our team gathers people with scientific degrees in engineering and mathematics (D.Sc., M.Sc. and B.Sc.) as well practitioners in the field of maritime transportation and ships operations (Chief Mates and Master Mariners).
Our mission
To establish and support creation, development and transfer of new knowledge and technology.
To provide optimal solutions for transportation and operational challenges through application of state-of-the-art methods and tools.
To provide services aiming at technologies development for sustainable waterborne transportation (maritime and inland), design and operations and their market implementation.
Our vision
To become a leading knowledge-based entity providing innovative, optimal and sustainable solutions in the field of safety of waterborne transportation.
Our offer
Technical analysis related to structural strength analysis, fluid dynamics (analysis of sloshing effects or assessment of ship squat ), and vessel dynamics.
Formal safety assessment, navigation safety analysis, case studies adopting state-of-the art customized methods and models.
Statistical analysis of data sets related to vessel traffic (AIS) and vessel communications (Navtex).
Advanced models for waterborne traffic risk (depending on vessel type) by integrating geographic spatial analysis, human behavior models, and engineering analysis (e.g., hydrodynamic or structural) into one model.
